Delete your account
You can delete your UBee account and its data yourself, from inside the app. If you no longer have the app installed, you can ask us to do it for you.
In short: open UBee and go to Me → Settings → Delete account. Your account is hidden immediately and permanently deleted after 30 days. If you can't use the app, email [email protected] from your account's email address and we'll handle it.
1. Delete it yourself, in the app
This is the fastest route and needs no waiting on us.
- Open UBee and sign in.
- Go to the Me tab.
- Open Settings.
- Choose Delete account.
- Confirm your identity when prompted, then confirm the deletion.
You may be asked to sign in again, or to re-enter your password, before the deletion goes through. This is a security step that confirms it's really you.
2. Request deletion without the app
If you've uninstalled UBee, lost access to your device, or can't complete the steps above, email [email protected] and ask us to delete your account. To help us find the right account and confirm it's yours, please send the request from the email address associated with your UBee account, and include your display name if you remember it.
We may need to verify your identity before acting, so that nobody else can delete your account. We'll respond within the time limit required by the law that applies to you — for example 30 days under the GDPR, or 45 days under the CCPA, subject to any extension the law allows. You can also submit this as a formal privacy request in the app under Me → Settings → Privacy & your data.
3. What happens when you delete
Deletion is not instant-and-irreversible, by design — the grace period exists so an accidental or impulsive deletion doesn't cost you everything.
- Immediately. Your account is deactivated and hidden from other users.
- For 30 days. You can restore the account by simply signing back in. Nothing is lost during this window.
- After 30 days. Your account and its associated data are permanently deleted and can no longer be restored.
4. What gets deleted
When the 30-day grace period ends, we permanently delete your account and the data tied to it, including:
- your account and sign-in records;
- your profile — display name, avatar, "About me", and your hometown and current-area selections;
- your content — messages, Moments, replies, and reactions;
- your group memberships, friends, and friend requests; and
- your contact methods and privacy settings.
5. What may be kept, and why
We'd rather tell you this plainly than let you discover it later. A limited amount of information can outlive your account, where the law requires or permits it:
- Content other people already have. Messages you sent to someone else, and content you shared into a group, may remain visible to those people. Deleting your account doesn't reach into other people's copies.
- Safety, security, and abuse records. Records needed to prevent fraud, abuse, and block-evasion, and to keep the community safe, are kept for a limited period.
- Child-safety reports and legal holds. If we filed a child-safety report or received a valid legal preservation request, we keep the relevant information for the period the law requires — for child-safety reports, at least one year, and longer where required — independently of, and after, account deletion.
- Legal and support records. Information we need to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
- Backups. Residual copies can persist in periodic backups for a limited time until they're overwritten.
The full detail, including our retention table, is in Section 19 of the Privacy Policy.
6. Alternatives to deleting
If the reason you're here is a specific problem rather than wanting to leave, there may be a smaller fix:
- Someone is bothering you. You can block or mute them — blocking works in both directions and stops further contact and visibility.
- Too many notifications. You can turn push notifications off in your device settings without touching your account.
- You want your data, not deletion. You can download a copy under Me → Settings → Privacy & your data.
- You want to correct something. Most profile details can be edited directly in Me → Settings.
